Guy writes:  

I’m someone who has been looking for a good pair of high altitude boots for some time. Having been disappointed with some of the earlier models of high altitude boots that were on the market in the early ‘90’s I was pleased to try a pair of the La Sportiva Olympus Mons for an ascent of Mt Everest this year. Whilst many people were getting frostbite on the mountain my feet were toasty warm the entire time. I was also impressed that the boots fit well (I have reasonably wide feet). I suffered no discomfort the entire time I used them which is unusual with a new pair of boots on a climb that is on one day extremely hot and on another bitterly cold. These boots are obviously durable and unlike some of the old model high altitude boots - these will last for several expeditions. The lacing system worked very well and was easy to use once one had adjusted the lace length and the zippers on the gaiter were robust and worked in all weather conditions. Overall, I was really pleased with the way La Sportiva have combined thermal properties with a boot that performs well on moderate terrain.
